Namikoye Wanjala

I am a visual multidisplinary artist who uses shades of light and dark in their work. I work in the void, in the abstract and explore sexuality, gender and mental health through painting, fine art photography and video performance.

With a continent experiencing a demographic shift and young people voicing their statements in different stories and shining a light on different perspectives, I aim to be a part of that shift in narrative. I show that heteronormativity is not the only lifestyle, mental health should be a daily conversation in public and private spaces and that both of these topics are not Western in origin.

I aim for a space to be visible to me and my community.
